What is New Work?

The term "New Work" originates from the social philosopher Frithjof Bergmann, who coined it in the 1970s. In Bergmann's ideal vision of new work, individuals are able to realize themselves as free agents. It emphasizes the meaningful purpose of work, as well as values like freedom, self-determination, and community. Bergmann also stresses that work should align with individual interests, values, and beliefs. According to Bergmann, a general definition of New Work is: "New Work is the work that a person truly wants."

When exploring the concept of New Work, it becomes clear that there is no simple or uniform definition. New Work is a way of thinking and remains open to interpretation.

Why New Work?

It’s clear that the world is moving faster, becoming more uncertain, and more complex. Organizations, leaders, and employees need to be capable of responding quickly and flexibly to ever-evolving demands. "New Work" focuses on transforming the work environment and the ways of working. Modern, functional workspaces and new methods of working, such as rapid decision-making processes and democratic leadership cultures, not only make a company more attractive to employees but also boost revenue and enhance adaptability.

what we offer

Our "New Work" workshop introduces participants to the principles of the New Work approach. The workshop features internal and external keynote speakers who provide practical insights from their experiences with implementing New Work and the associated changes and challenges. Through group work, participants have the opportunity to openly discuss their fears and concerns. By the end of the workshop, participants will develop an individual action plan based on the theoretical and practical knowledge gained.
